So its official, today at Sony’s Press event, the next generation console from Sony, The PlayStation 4 Has Arrived. The fourth PlayStation is apparently the most “personalised” system, and the most powerful platform ever. With the whole system built around “play”, the PlayStation 4 provides the very best of gaming, Content and the latest Triple A titles.
The New PlayStation also comes with the latest controller, The DualShock 4. The official controller is the same as the leaked version that was released a few days ago, with the touch pad in the central part of the pad.
The PlayStation 4 also has a new user interface, Which is alot better, similar to the Xbox 360. The Playstation interface also is going across ecosystems, onto tablets and smart phones. The User interface can also be personalized to the users liking.
Cloud Gaming – It’s Here
Sony’s acquisition of GaiKai, The cloud based gaming company, was also a big announcement for the PlayStation 4. The Cloud based technology helps the user to stream games from the PlayStation store. Another big announcement is that Gaikai allows players to stream their gaming to the likes of uStream and Facebook, with just a push of one button on the new Controller. Other players can also help and assist players that are streaming games, and also direct users, and choose ho views the stream.
The PS Vita is the best partner for the PlayStation 4, Games can be streamed directly from the PlayStation 4 to the Vita, and to be playable. Every game will be available to play on the Vita. PlayStation 3 games will be available to play via GaiKai’s cloud technology, which they also hope Games from the PlayStation PlayStation two will also be playable on devices. The PlayStation 4′s cloud based technology will be released in stages, so this is all we know so far.
The Next Gen Games
Games such as The next KillZone, KillZone Shadowfall, and Drive Club was shown off at the event, showing the smooth high spec graphics, and the 8GB of memory inside the PlayStation 4. The Demo of Killzone shown a brief highlight of the new share feature that comes with the new system and the dedicated “share button” on the Dualshock 4 controller.
SuckerPunch also shown off their PlayStation 4 title, Infamous: Second son, Which also had a demo of the game, with a crazy like person who introduced the title, going on about how we live in a “world of fear”. It looked great anyway, and also is a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
The PlayStation Move, Sony’s answer to player movement control, Media Molecule first shown off its new “record your dreams”, which allows players to design different things from characters, to items and use the Move controller to make them move across the screen. The creative tool looks impressive.
Major Developers such as CapCom, Square Enix and many others shown off their ideas for the PlayStation 4, many of them where impressive showings, such as the much anticipated Watch Dogs from Ubisoft, the open world game based in Chicago. Which shown the main character walking round the streets, hacking into people’s lives through his mobile phone. Which ends up with a police chase through the Chicago streets and alleys.
Blizzard, a company well known for making PC games, have decided to create Diablo 3 for the next generation console, Diablo 3 will be available on the PlayStation 4 and the older current gen PS3.
The Hardware
We didn’t see it. Sony decided to not show a hardware version or a prototype at the event. We did see the new DualShock 4 controller and the Kinect like box for the PlayStation move. There is also no pricing to be seen either, this seems a weird move to pull, With Microsoft lurking.
